I agree that we need to ditch petroleum in our cosmetics and bath & body products! There are better alternatives out there. These days there are no excuses. I come across great products all of the time that do not have petroleum in them and are more eco-friendly. Now more than ever we have choices.

As far as keeping ingredients a secret...that is just plain wrong. And you're right, do the celebrities even know what's in their perfumes? I'm guessing no. Thanks for the great article!

It is interesting that perfume always used to be a luxury item which has now become an everyday item and one deemed worthy of being marketed to teenagers, with little thought of the health implications.

Personally, I find being near anyone wearing conventional scents and aftershaves too much. I have let folks go first in the coffee shop queue and walked flights of stairs to avoid being in a lift/elevator with someone who has bathed in eau du synthetics that morning!

Over-consumption coupled with toxic ingredients appears to be having a dramatic impact on the nations health. The oil spill is a reminder that self-regulated industries are potentially detrimental for human health and environmental conservation.
