I am in the process of reading this book right now and I must say the amount of research, information and clarity are astounding. I love that the book is full of facts instead of emotional pleas. I love that the writer has researched the patterns in the industry (like “pinkwashing”) wich I felt were somehow odd, but never seen so well articulated before.
Thank you so much for putting it all together. This book deserves all the awards it can get and should be required reading for girls and women everywhere.

I was amazes with the results that Red Cross conducted by the Environmental Working Group, it states the first time such a wide range of pollutants had been measured in the umbilical cord blood of newborns, who had never in direct contact with industrialized society.The researchers detected a total of 287 chemicals in the babies’ cord blood, including 180 chemicals that cause cancer in humans or amials, 217 that are toxic to the brain and nervous system, and 208 that cause birth defects or abnormal development in animal studies. I’m just so amazed that that when the Government and independent researchers have studied human blood, urine and breast milk from all regions of the world. The studies reveal that every single one to be toxic. As a mother and being pregnant I’m so amazed thats theres so many chemicals or other toxins found in our everday uses how it would impact our health as a hole. from childhood cancer, hormone~related cancers, asthma, learning disabilities, birth defects, infertility and so much more other health problems that still increasing to yet to come in years from now lets not ignore the fact the countless reproductive and developmental disorders in our wildlife. I feel like the article I read “tricks of the trade” is very debatable. It expresses the hazards of cosmetics and also speaks of cosmetics not being harmful or hazardous at all. I feel like if individuals choose to were cosmetics knowing of the effects, then more power too them. I have never heard of cosmetics ever harming anyone in all my 33years on earth.

The problem is that many products contain hazardous chemicals that are linked to cancer, or disrupt hormones, or are toxic to the skin, etc., and consumers are not aware of it. These same products often carry labels such as “pure,” “natural,” and even “hypoallergenic” on products containing known allergens! Due to lack of regulation, individuals are not able to make clear and informed choices, because the companies are not transparent about what’s in these products.
