Good for Kim Kardashian for standing up to the sniping
about the airbrushed photo scandal that is making the rounds on the web. “So what, I have a little cellulite,” she said. “How many people do you think are photoshopped? It happens all the time.”
You might not believe how much! Check out this enlightening video clip by Jesse Epstein on the New York Times website The All Together move — every young girl should see it, and know the extent to which photos are manipulated in the extreme.
Even famous women are photoshopped to the point of being inhuman. Here’s Jessica Alba as she really looks (beautiful) on the left, and with 10 pounds shaved off and all bronzed up for the photo, in order to sell us… what?

Thank-you for caring enough to write about these issues. It’s time for Consumers to stand up and say “Enough Already”…For starters, contact the magazine that prints these outrageously fake pictures and voice your opinion. If the celebrity is selling a product, contact the company and tell them that you refuse to purchase that product until they use authentic photographs. Obviously the public can tell the difference. I live in Asheville, North Carolina and have bumped into Andie McDowell several times. She looks nothing like her airbrushed ads….She is a gorgeous middle aged woman with laugh lines and a face filled with character…I rest my case!

Yes – it is wrong to be photoshopping our girls in order to sell products, or for any level of marketing.
Buuuut Ladies – who is buying these magazines and beauty products?
Why need we use “beauty” products in the first place?
Beauty is not skin deep – beauty doesn’t even dwell on the surface.
The real issue here is not the contents, packaging or presentation of “feminine beauty” – it is about our vanity as a civilisation. And the way we define beauty.
Think.
Reflect.
Think.
Imagine a world where “beauty products” don’t exist.
